Backstage Capital backs Native American-run biotech firm Novoron

Novoron Bioscience was founded by neuroscientist Travis Stiles to develop therapies for central nervous system disorders like multiple sclerosis.

The company has been working with a National Institute of Health grant to develop a spinal cord nerve regeneration therapy. Backstage Capital announced on Twitter that it had invested an undisclosed amount in the company.

Backstage raised its second fund last year to invest in women and minority entrepreneurs, whose stake of total venture capital funding is in the low single digits. Its founder, Arlan Hamilton as a New Revivalist in the ImpactAlpha series with Village Capital.
