About this Role

Aligned Climate Capital is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Investment Associate to join the Aligned Solar Partners (ASP) team. This role is part of Aligned’s core investment strategy which focuses on middle market solar, energy storage, and other clean energy infrastructure projects across the United States. The Investment Associate will have the opportunity to engage in the full lifecycle of the investment process, from origination and due diligence to financial analysis and portfolio management. Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain detailed financial models inclusive of varying debt and tax equity structures, return metrics, and sensitivity analysis to evaluate investment opportunities.
  • Support origination efforts inclusive of bidding, structuring, modeling, and preparing and presenting investment memorandums to Aligned’s Investment Committee.
  • Support the day-to-day negotiations, execution, diligence, and ongoing management of key contracts and engagements relating to project acquisition, debt and tax equity placement, and all third-party stakeholders.
  • Support portfolio management relating to ASP’s previous, current, and upcoming funds, as well as closely track and report on relevant market, industry, and regulatory developments.
  • Support fundraising workstreams inclusive of professional engagement with current and prospective investors, preparation of materials, and investor reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field from a top-tier accredited university.
  • 2 – 4 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, or project finance in power and renewables.
  • Strong financial modeling skills with an ability to build and review valuation, debt, and tax equity models.
  • Demonstrated exposure to M&A, structured finance, tax equity, debt financing, and joint venture transactions.
  • Understanding of distributed energy regulatory frameworks, unique offtake structures, and policy incentives.
  • Understanding of project development, power markets, contracting structures, and financing considerations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill analysis into clear recommendations.
