About this Role

As part of the Infrastructure Vice Presidency, the Sustainable Infrastructure Advisory (SIA) provides essential sustainability-related advisory services focusing on climate adaptation, digital solutions, and social inclusion. This Advisory aims to support IFC investment clients and partners in their efforts to build and maintain resilient infrastructure while promoting environmental consciousness and community buy-in. Situated in Dakar, Senegal, you will drive regional client engagements, helping identify opportunities for innovative solutions addressing distinct client challenges. Efforts will involve direct technical advisory services, developing project proposals, conducting opportunity assessments, and engaging with stakeholders across sectors. You will play a crucial role in developing practical solutions aligned with the World Bank Group’s mandate, thereby contributing to the expansion of sustainable infrastructure investments in the region. Your work will also encompass knowledge creation and dissemination, ensuring that lessons learned are integrated into strategy development and shared widely with stakeholders. Engagement in industry events is expected to foster networking, build partnerships, and enhance collaboration around the sustainability mandate of SIA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or contribute to risk and opportunity assessments to identify sustainability issues faced by IFC clients.
  • Design innovative solutions and develop proposals and project pitches to support clients across the full range of SIA services.
  • Work closely with investment, ESG, legal, and other relevant teams to develop tailored solutions aligned with World Bank Group mandates.
  • Prepare project legal agreements based on client proposal terms and support their execution.
  • Provide contributions to strategy development for specific sectors, countries, or regions.
  • Support the delivery of current and new projects in the regional portfolio.
  • Lead the preparation of project concept notes, implementation work plans, budgets, and project reports.
  • Develop project management strategies for engaging host communities and other stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including IFC clients, government officials, industry associations, and civil society groups.
  • Share expertise as a subject matter expert and contribute to knowledge products across the World Bank Group.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as business, finance, sustainable development, or a related field.
  • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience in private infrastructure sustainability advisory, climate-smart investments, and advisory services.
  • Solid understanding of SDGs, ESG, sustainability reporting, and monitoring and evaluation techniques.
  • Proven track record in designing, implementing, and managing complex operations with innovative approaches.
  • Ability to develop and manage relations with diverse stakeholders.
  • General understanding of IFC operations and advisory services relevant to client engagement.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French.
  • Strong analytical skills with sustainability expertise in private sector development.
