About this Role

The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) is seeking an innovative and highly motivated consultant to support the Water and Soil Accelerator (WASA) Agribusiness Catalyst. WASA aims to accelerate the scaling of sustainable water and soil management solutions across rainfed agricultural systems in Zambia and Malawi. The consultant will provide investment advisory and transaction support services to advance selected agribusiness and partnership models to investment readiness. The objective is to strengthen financial and commercial structuring and facilitate investment partnerships that support the scaling of climate-smart agricultural solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an inception report outlining methodology, investment-readiness criteria, and implementation workplan.
  • Create institutional pitch kits, including investor-ready business cases and financial models.
  • Deliver capacity-building training on investment readiness and financial management.
  • Engage with investors and facilitate outreach and negotiation processes.
  • Track and document the mobilization of USD 500,000 in private-sector investment.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field, with professional certification in finance or investment.
  • 8 – 10 years of experience in investment advisory and financial structuring.
  • Proven track record of mobilizing private sector capital or co-investment.
  • Experience with agribusinesses and knowledge of climate-smart agriculture.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to produce investor-grade materials.
