About this Role
The Head of Fundraising will lead the fundraising operations at GSG Impact during a critical period of growth and income diversification. This position is integral to achieving annual income targets of approximately £3 million and converting strategic priorities into fundable projects. The individual will build and manage the systems, relationships, and team capabilities essential for ensuring long-term funding sustainability. Collaborating closely with the Chief of Engagement and Strategic Partnerships, senior leadership, and national partners, the Head of Fundraising will oversee the development of a diversified funding portfolio. This role involves managing a robust fundraising pipeline, enhancing donor stewardship, improving cost recovery, and aligning fundraising activities with organizational goals and financial sustainability targets. The successful candidate will be a proactive fundraiser with a knack for originating opportunities, cultivating senior relationships, developing compelling narratives, leading complex proposal processes, and fostering a culture of shared responsibility for fundraising within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a prioritized list of top prospects, including institutional, philanthropic, bilateral, multilateral, corporate, and high-net-worth sources.
- Proactively identify and cultivate new funding prospects focusing on impact economies and related areas.
- Manage a pipeline of high-quality funding opportunities and lead prospects from identification to grant close.
- Translate organizational strategies into fundable propositions and lead the development of high-value opportunities.
- Identify new revenue opportunities and develop strategic partnerships and funding models.
- Lead the development of high-quality funding proposals and ensure strategic alignment with organizational priorities.
- Manage donor relationships and support the annual stewardship strategy to ensure the renewal and growth of key funding relationships.
- Oversee narrative and financial reporting for donors, ensuring quality and timeliness.
- Manage and coach the Fundraising Senior Officer, ensuring compliance with fundraising regulations and strong financial tracking.
Requirements
- Proven track record of securing major grants and establishing donor relationships.
- Experience in building and managing funding prospect pipelines.
- Strong understanding of institutional philanthropy, bilateral and multilateral funding, and impact investing.
- Experience working with senior organizational leaders on donor cultivation.
- Ability to develop high-quality proposals under tight deadlines.
- Competence in strategic planning, team leadership, and collaborative working styles.
