About the fund
GSIF Africa is the Africa-focused vehicle of Global Social Impact Investments SGIIC (GSI), a Spanish impact fund manager. The fund targets a €60 million raise, aiming for an annual net return of 8% through short and medium-term debt investments in established, profitable, and growing SMEs across Sub-Saharan Africa. Its investment thesis centers on companies that generate measurable social and environmental benefits — primarily improving the livelihoods of small-scale agricultural and livestock producers and their families — across the sectors of food and agriculture, energy access, and financial inclusion. Since inception in December 2020, the fund has achieved a 4% annualized net return, made 11 investments by end of 2024, helped increase beneficiary community incomes by an average of 39%, created nearly 3,000 new stable jobs, maintained over 15,000 jobs, and directly benefited more than 6 million people — over 75% of them women. Portfolio companies include Burn (low-cost cookstoves, East Africa) and JKCC (Ugandan smallholder coffee cooperative).
