About this Role
In this role, the Senior Manager will lead CPI’s work in climate finance for agrifood systems by managing the ClimateShot Investor Coalition (CLIC) Secretariat. Reporting to the Director, UK, the Senior Manager will develop a comprehensive understanding of CPI and CLIC’s mission and stakeholders. The role involves strategic oversight, external engagement, and internal management to drive the CLIC workstreams, strategy, and governance. You will further develop and implement the CLIC strategy, fostering relationships with senior stakeholders, government clients, investors, and technical assistance programs in emerging and developing economies. This role demands leadership skills, resilience, and a positive outlook to effectively manage a diverse and geographically distributed set of stakeholders. As the Senior Manager, you will also be responsible for the overall management of CLIC Secretariat, ensuring timely deliverables in key areas such as Knowledge Products, the Agrifood Investment Connector, and Action Groups. Your efforts will contribute to consolidating CPI’s global work on climate and nature finance for agrifood systems.
Responsibilities
- Accountability for shaping the overall CLIC strategy, encompassing strategic direction on membership, action pillars, governance, and partnerships.
- Accountability for developing annual workplans for each of the action pillars.
- Accountability for financial and human resources necessary for the implementation of the Secretariat workplans.
- Accountability for project budget and milestones, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with quality.
- Lead fundraising efforts when required.
- Technically lead and support the coordination and development of knowledge products, grant proposals, grant reports, and strategic communications products.
- Act as the main contact point with CLIC Secretariat funders on all strategic and technical matters.
- Represent CLIC in external meetings, events, and engagements with stakeholders in climate finance and agrifood systems.
- Engage partners, members, agribusinesses, and advise policymakers and investors on the implications of research findings.
- Provide leadership to the CLIC Secretariat team, managing 4-5 team members.
- Provide mentorship to team members on project management and technical matters related to climate and nature finance for agrifood systems.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment conducive to innovation and knowledge sharing.
- Communicate and collaborate with CPI staff working globally.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in Economics, Finance, International Development/Affairs, Public Policy, Environmental, or Physical Sciences, or another relevant field.
- Substantial professional experience (senior level) in climate and/or nature finance for agrifood systems, including in research institutions, think tanks, major consulting firms, or similar organizations.
- In-depth understanding of agrifood sector challenges in the face of climate change and nature degradation.
- Experience with actors across public and private sectors on climate issues related to agrifood systems.
- Expertise in international climate finance mechanisms and policy frameworks (desirable).
- In-depth knowledge of political and economic contexts in developing and emerging economies, particularly in the agrifood sector.
- Demonstrated program and project management skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software applications.
- Fluent in English, with working knowledge of a second language being an advantage.
- Advanced user of the MS Office suite.
- Demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders and develop relationships in the agrifood and climate finance sector.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
