About this Role

RBC’s Climate Strategy team drives the overall vision to own and accelerate RBC’s climate ambition. This team supports strategy delivery while ensuring strong cross-enterprise alignment, with a focus on sustainable finance, sectoral climate targets, and client engagement. Reporting to the Director, Sectoral Climate Strategy, the Senior Manager, Sectoral Climate Strategy is pivotal in delivering RBC’s climate commitments by driving the development and implementation of sectoral climate strategies. This role interacts across multiple lines of business, including Capital Markets, Commercial Banking, to establish climate ambitions and execute business strategies in sectors like Energy, Real Estate, Agriculture, and Transportation. This role requires a strategic mindset, with a strong emphasis on problem-solving and analytics. You will be responsible for supporting the development of sectoral climate strategies and maintaining an enterprise-level roadmap to mobilize action across prioritized sectors. Additionally, you will lead the implementation and coordination of sectoral strategies across lines of business, including the development of common frameworks and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Support strategy development, project management, and analytics for emissions reduction target-setting.
  • Drive sectoral climate strategies, including research and analytical work relating to sectoral strategies and decarbonization pathways.
  • Maintain an enterprise-level roadmap of action in each sector to mobilize climate action.
  • Support implementation and coordination of sectoral strategies across lines of business.
  • Develop common enterprise-level frameworks and tools.
  • Lead projects to address prioritized opportunities or challenges on sectoral strategies requiring an enterprise-level response.
  • Establish and own a knowledge and insights management function, maintaining knowledge of key technical and strategic developments relevant to this mandate.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • At least 3+ years of strategy experience either in management consulting at the Senior Consultant or Engagement Manager level or within the corporate strategy function of a global corporation or financial institution.
  • Experience with quantitative economic and financial modeling.
  • Experience working in corporate sustainability, and/or sector decarbonization.
  • Structured problem-solving approaches and synthesis of key insights, including clear story lining and structured communication for executive audiences.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects and timelines simultaneously.
