About this Role
The Senior Associate, Infrastructure & Sustainable Energies, will hold a pivotal role in the management and refinement of CPP Investments’ portfolio. You will engage in critical investment decisions and processes, aligning them with our long-term goals and objectives. This role ensures significant interfaces with internal partners and external stakeholders to foster trust and strategic collaboration. Through meticulous research and comprehensive evaluations, you will influence impactful investment ventures. Responsibilities
- Play an important role in the research, analysis, and evaluation of a variety of investment opportunities including managing the overall evaluation process.
- Participate in meetings with company management teams, industry experts, and analysts.
- Build working relationships with colleagues and leaders across the firm, alongside company management teams and investment partners.
- Perform due diligence on opportunities including past and projected financial performance, quality of management teams, investment merits and risks, regulatory environment, industry dynamics, and other relevant factors.
- Lead development of sophisticated dynamic financial models to analyze investment opportunities (including testing assumptions and sensitivities).
- Oversee preparation of analytical investment reviews and recommendations, including industry overviews, written investment rationales, and due diligence reviews.
- Assist in presenting investment recommendations to the Investment Committee and Board, as required.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of existing portfolios.
- Update financial models and other analytical tools to support the idea generation process and rational behind changes in investment view.
- Manage and guide the work of junior team members and assist departmental initiatives, processes, and meetings.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree or college diploma in a relevant field.
- An advanced degree or certification (CFA) is an asset.
- 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong research, analytical, financial modeling, valuation, and problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively.
- Experience working in deal environments including participation in the diligence and structuring processes related to acquisitions, financing transactions or investments, and/or asset management activities.
- Experience managing successful negotiations with multiple stakeholders and executing a wide range of agreements.
- Advanced computer/technical skills – MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.
