About this Role

The IDB Invest – Investment Officer for Infrastructure and Energy in the Caribbean Region will play a pivotal role in driving the organization’s mission of sustainable investment. Based in Port of Spain, the role involves engaging with both private and public sectors to initiate and close high-quality infrastructure projects. The officer will work within the Infrastructure and Energy Division, collaborating closely with regional partners and stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment and operational effectiveness. The officer will manage client relationships, facilitate deal origination, and conduct comprehensive financial analyses. Through strategic market research, the officer will identify and capitalize on new investment opportunities within the Caribbean. The role requires effective communication and presentation skills to articulate complex financial ideas and secure stakeholder buy-in.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain responsibility for origination and client relationships in assigned countries.
  • Identify new opportunities through proactive client research.
  • Leverage networks to attract new clients and strengthen existing relationships.
  • Identify and evaluate lending, investment, and advisory opportunities.
  • Participate in due diligence, including financial modeling and risk analysis.
  • Coordinate internal teams to deliver advisory and upstream support.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure effective transaction execution.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis and develop/maintain financial models.
  • Prepare presentations and materials to communicate complex financial concepts.
  • Monitor market trends and industry developments for risks and opportunities.
  • Manage multiple workstreams and deadlines with precision.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, investors, and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master’s (or equivalent advanced degree) in relevant fields.
  • At least four years of professional experience as an investment officer.
  • Strong client relationship experience and skills.
  • Proficiency in English; Spanish is a plus.
  • Eligibility to work in job location without sponsorship.
  • No family members working at the IDB Group.
