About this Role
The role of Research Analyst – Private Credit at Soros Fund Management offers a robust opportunity to engage in a dynamic investment landscape, primarily focusing on corporate and asset-backed opportunities. The Private Credit Group at SFM leverages its wide mandate to discover superior risk/reward prospects, actively participating across the capital structure and across various industries and asset classes. The selected candidate will engage in critical evaluation and underwriting transactions by utilizing advanced financial models and in-depth analytics. This role requires performing comprehensive due diligence on potential investments, which includes on-site visits and management meetings. The analyst will compile these findings into detailed overview reports and prepare investment committee deal memos. Additionally, the position involves reviewing and negotiating key legal documents, with collaboration from internal and external counsel. Responsibilities include managing the existing portfolio, performing regular surveillance and updates, and developing new origination and sourcing relationships, all in alignment with SFM’s strategic vision.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and underwrite transactions through financial models and analytics
- Perform due diligence on potential investments, including site visits
- Conduct independent research, valuation, and industry analyses
- Prepare deal memos for the investment committee
- Review and negotiate legal documents with counsel
- Manage the existing portfolio and perform surveillance on investments
- Update models, analytics, valuation, and risk reports
- Review investor reports and third-party research
- Interact with internal and external subject matter experts
- Develop new origination and sourcing relationships
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience with credit transactions
- Strong finance and accounting fundamentals
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel
- Interest in financial markets
- Intellectual curiosity and desire to learn
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to conduct comprehensive research independently
