About this Role
The Infrastructure Finance Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive financial modelling and investment advisory support to facilitate successful infrastructure finance initiatives. This position involves developing and maintaining detailed project finance models, conducting financial analyses, and participating in transaction structuring. The role assists in negotiating and closing infrastructure finance transactions and policy-based financing initiatives, evaluating the bankability of investments, and offering strategic advisory services. The incumbent will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver comprehensive financing solutions and support the successful delivery and management of infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize detailed project finance models for investment analysis and debt structuring.
- Conduct financial analysis, sensitivity analysis, and scenario modelling to assess project viability.
- Support the structuring, negotiation, and closing of finance transactions and policy-based financing.
- Participate in transaction due diligence, including financial, commercial, technical, and legal assessments.
- Develop sustainable financing structures, including blended finance and Public Private Partnerships.
- Conduct financial analysis and modelling related to guarantees and capital mobilisation.
- Assist in negotiating commercial terms, financing agreements, and transaction documentation.
- Evaluate the feasibility of investment opportunities to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
- Provide financial advisory services to internal/external stakeholders on infrastructure financing solutions.
- Prepare investment memoranda, financial reports, and presentation materials.
Requirements
- A postgraduate qualification in Development Finance, Finance, Business, Engineering, or Economics.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in project finance and infrastructure finance.
- Proven ability to build and interrogate complex project finance models.
- Experience with infrastructure investment in emerging markets.
- Comprehensive understanding of banking sector and financial markets.
- Knowledge of South African legislation and infrastructure procurement regulations.
