The Business Finance Lead at OceanHub Africa is a pivotal role focused on delivering comprehensive financial services to support the organization and its associated startups. This position plays a crucial role in managing funding, donations, and developing finance models tailored for emerging ocean-focused enterprises. Your expertise will enable OHA to maintain financial compliance with both local and international legislative standards. The role demands adept leadership in guiding both internal teams and external partners, alongside effective management of budgets and donor funding. Responsibilities

  • Lead internal staff and external service providers in financial matters.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, auditors, and SARS for stakeholder management.
  • Compile, monitor, and report on budget management.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations.
  • Support fundraising through financial insight into funding requests.
  • Prepare and submit donor funding reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce, or a similar field.
  • Desired: Honors degree in accounting, commerce, or similar.
  • 5 years of experience in a general accounting role for a small organization.
  • Significant experience managing grants and funding income.
  • Proficient in SAGE accounting systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
