About this Role
An Associate, Community Engagement will play a vital role in supporting local outreach and acting as a relationship lead with county and municipal officials, local taxing bodies, chambers of commerce, and Economic Development Organizations. This role is crucial where Invenergy has an active development presence. The associate will support the department in the development of energy projects across the United States. This role involves working closely with various teams at Invenergy, including Communications, Government Affairs, and Impact teams to align community relations plans with the company’s strategic priorities and partnerships. Responsibilities
- Represent Invenergy in meetings with county/municipal officials, local taxing bodies, landowners, and other stakeholders.
- Understand and explain the benefits of projects to community members.
- Support the Community Engagement team in negotiations for project development approvals.
- Develop and implement community relations programs for Invenergy’s projects.
- Align community relations plans with company priorities and partnerships.
- Manage tasks according to budgets and schedules, including coordinating technical support.
- Monitor local messaging to educate key individuals against misinformation.
- Coordinate with local counties and government groups.
- Work with developers on strategy for community engagement from outreach to construction.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 3+ years of experience in agriculture, construction, development, government, or related fields.
- Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to spend approximately 50% of time traveling.
- Experience with local political and stakeholder engagement.
- Understanding of clean and renewable energy project development.
- Strong organizational, networking, leadership, and time management skills.
- Strong public speaking and personal skills.
- Ability to write effective, concise reports.
