About the fund

The New Jersey Social Impact Investment Fund (SIIF) is a state-backed, socially motivated public finance vehicle established in 2023 to deploy below-market-rate loans and other flexible financing tools to advance projects in underserved communities. Seeded with approximately $20 million from the New Jersey Department of the Treasury and managed by Nonprofit Finance Fund (NFF), a national CDFI, the SIIF focuses initially on expanding access to capital for early-stage affordable housing developers, modernizing drinking water infrastructure in distressed municipalities, and supporting the development of early childhood education facilities, with the broader goal of leveraging public and private capital to promote social equity and strengthen New Jersey’s economy as part of a public banking pilot.
