About this Role

The Harvard Business School seeks a Manager, Project on Impact Investing to collaborate with Professors Shawn Cole and Josh Lerner. This role involves advancing the Project on Impact Investing by integrating academic research with the involvement of investors, policymakers, and practitioners to enhance the understanding of sustainable and impact investing. Reporting to faculty supervisors and the Research Staff Services (RSS) office, the manager will be integral to all facets of the project’s work. This includes designing and executing research, building data resources, and furthering practitioner engagement. The position suits candidates with backgrounds in consulting, finance, or economic research, offering exposure to cutting-edge research and connections with leading professionals in sustainable and impact investing fields. Previous role holders have pursued advanced academic and professional careers in related sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research on sustainable and impact investing.
  • Use AI-enabled tools and machine learning for data analysis.
  • Develop and maintain datasets to support academic research.
  • Perform data analysis and literature reviews for academic publications.
  • Conduct interviews and code qualitative research data.
  • Draft research memoranda and synthesize findings for diverse audiences.
  • Produce educational content for Harvard Business School courses.
  • Coordinate research projects and manage timelines and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with external partners and manage relationships.
  • Support research dissemination and maintain project websites.
  • Represent the project professionally in external interactions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of three years professional experience in relevant fields.
  • Proven project management skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Master’s degree in relevant discipline preferred.
  • Experience conducting rigorous research and data analysis.
  • Strong interest in impact investing and sustainable finance.
  • Familiarity with statistical software such as R, Python, or Stata preferred.
  • Intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new research methods.
