About this Role
The Senior Communications Officer plays a vital role within the Climate Group’s Communications team. This position requires expertise in media relations, an understanding of climate change, and familiarity with business and political influencers. You’ll work on enhancing the media presence and thought leadership of the organization and its CEO. This is achieved through media work related to key events like Climate Week NYC and the Climate Group Asia Action Summit. The role involves drafting content for various communication forms, advising on external engagement opportunities, and coordinating media activities. It is a dynamic position involving the coordination of communication efforts across various teams in London, New York, New Delhi, and China.
Responsibilities
- Supporting Climate Group’s strategic media work, building and strengthening relations with international journalists, broadcasters, and podcasters.
- Strengthening the profile of Climate Group and its CEO through media and social media presence and through other strategic profiling opportunities.
- Advising the CEO on external engagement opportunities and managing speaking engagements.
- Leading on reactive media work in the CEO’s name, drafting statements, and acting swiftly with the news cycle.
- Drafting briefings for the CEO and senior management ahead of media interviews and speaking engagements.
- Creating thought leadership content including speeches, op-eds, and podcast content.
- Supporting the Climate Group’s external narrative and key messaging across platforms and campaigns.
- Coordinating communications for Climate Group’s events, including Climate Week NYC.
- Overseeing and managing media engagements around Climate Week NYC.
Requirements
- Ability to identify timely and relevant news stories.
