About Boston Impact Initiative
Boston Impact Initiative (BII) is a nonprofit impact investment fund founded in 2013, dedicated to building a regenerative and equitable economy. The organization invests integrated capital—combinations of equity, debt, and grants—in social enterprises and community-owned real estate, emphasizing wealth and asset-building opportunities in diverse communities. As a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), BII manages two significant funds: BII Fund I, established in 2017, which deployed $6.9M across 50 enterprises, and BII Fund II, launched in 2022, with $22M deployed towards small businesses and community-governed real estate projects in Massachusetts and New England. Additionally, BII provides impact investing education through its Advancing Regenerative Capital (ARC) Fellowship, having trained 90 fund managers from 38 organizations nationwide. The organization’s mission is to ensure every community has the resources and power to create shared prosperity. By 2026, BII aims to grow its team to 15 employees and has an annual operating budget of $7M.
