About this Role

The Development Manager at Akuo Energy will play a critical role in ensuring the successful development of wind, solar, and storage projects from initial origination through to full permitting and project financing. This position requires close collaboration with the Country Manager and the Project Management Team. The focus will be on utility-scale projects, but opportunities for project development utilizing other technologies may also be pursued depending on availability and suitability. As part of the role, the manager will secure new project opportunities, engage in community meetings, and foster excellent relationships with local institutions and stakeholders. The Development Manager is responsible for overseeing all necessary works for obtaining authorizations required by local regulations to execute projects efficiently and sustainably.

Responsibilities

  • Manage utility scale solar, wind, and storage projects.
  • Secure new opportunities and oversee negotiations with landowners and on PPA and asset agreements.
  • Establish, monitor, and update business plans, development budgets, and schedules.
  • Coordinate and oversee permitting processes, including grid and environmental permits.
  • Engage with communities and represent projects in public meetings and presentations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local institutions.
  • May act as the Legal Representative for project SPVs, if required.
  • Contribute to the improvement of internal development processes and tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Engineer or Master’s degree, preferably in Electric, Electro-Mechanic, Industrial or energy disciplines.
  • 5-7 years of experience in energy development, preferably in renewables.
  • Extensive knowledge of the local development processes and electrical regulations.
  • In-depth understanding of the public and private PPA market.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven track record in project management in fast-paced environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel monthly.
  • Experienced user of PVsyst, pvDesign, OpenWind or similar software.
  • Familiarity with GIS.
  • Proficiency with Google and Microsoft Office suites.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or similar scheduling software.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English; French preferred.
