About this Role
Investment Operations serves as the center of excellence for AECF’s investment portfolio. The Head of Investment Operations is tasked with building and managing frameworks, systems, and analytical capabilities that support the creation and delivery of high-performing portfolios. The role involves applying strong investment discipline, financial analysis, and process rigor throughout the entire deal lifecycle, from marketing and competition management through to due diligence, structuring, and Investment Committee decision-making. This position is crucial in ensuring that investment decisions are not only swift but also consistent and of high quality. Reporting to the Director of Programs, the role works closely with Sector Leads in Agribusiness and Energy, holding portfolio accountability within these sectors.
Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise sourcing competitions from design to shortlisting.
- Improve competition design based on yield data.
- Build complementary sourcing channels through outreach and partnerships.
- Manage sourcing infrastructure, including CRM and pipeline-tracking systems.
- Provide financial modeling and analytical support for deal teams.
- Serve as process owner for the Investment Committee.
- Own portfolio analytics and performance dashboards.
- Lead systems automation and digitization initiatives.
- Monitor and improve cycle times across the deal lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain standards that govern the deal lifecycle.
- Lead and develop the Investment Operations team.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CFA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- Eight years of investment experience across the full deal lifecycle.
- Expertise in managing catalytic capital instruments and designing frameworks.
- Experience in designing and operating investment platforms and systems.
- Strong investment/financial analysis and investment committee process experience.
- Track record of supporting deal teams and sector leads.
- Experience with early-stage portfolios and complex multi-stakeholder environments.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team player skills.
