About this Role
IDB Invest is seeking a highly motivated professional to join the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Division as an Environment & Social Senior Officer. This role requires extensive experience in environmental and social risk assessments, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean. The incumbent will work closely with project teams to ensure alignment with IDB Invest’s Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy. The responsibilities include conducting due diligence, stakeholder engagement, and offering technical guidance on environmental and social issues throughout project lifecycles. Proficiency in Portuguese and English is essential, with Spanish as a bonus.
Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental and social risk assessments and due diligence.
- Support project origination, execution, and monitoring.
- Collaborate across teams to mobilize technical and financial resources.
- Provide ESG-related capacity building and knowledge sharing.
- Offer technical expertise during project design and execution.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent in engineering, environmental management, law, or related field.
- Minimum six years of professional experience in environmental and social impact assessments.
- Proven expertise in IFC Performance Standards, resettlement, Indigenous Peoples, and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in Portuguese and English; knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
- Brazil citizenship or legal permit to work in Brazil.
