About this Role

The Policy Advisor, Climate & Biodiversity Finance, will play a crucial role in supporting TNC’s Global Tackle Climate Change and Public Policy and Funding teams. This involves close collaboration with country offices to help governments develop financing strategies and governance mechanisms to advance climate and nature goals. The role requires working within an interdisciplinary team, providing technical support and producing knowledge products on sustainable finance mechanisms. As a subject matter expert, the Policy Advisor will engage with Ministries of Finance, Economy, Environment, and Planning, as well as with multilateral partners. The position is term-limited, with an end date set for April 30, 2028, and is based within select regions in Africa or Latin America in countries where TNC is authorized to operate.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of country-level analytical products.
  • Provide embedded technical advisory during the design and structuring of sustainable finance measures.
  • Support capacity-building workshops for government officials and stakeholders.
  • Serve as a technical advisor supporting organization strategies.
  • Develop relationships with corporate, government, and NGO partners.
  • Apply knowledge to support climate and biodiversity finance strategies.
  • Support TNC’s domestic resource mobilization work.
  • Oversee external contractors for specific deliverables.
  • Contribute to identifying funding opportunities.
  • Act independently within broad program goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, public policy, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in government or corporate sectors.
  • Experience in climate or nature finance, public financial management, or fiscal policy.
  • Strong understanding of sustainable finance concepts.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Experience with communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work across cultures and time zones.
