Agrifood investing. Acquisition in India to boost fruit distribution… GoodSAM, a Greenwich, Conn.-based food brand that provides small, regenerative farmers with access to premium markets, closed a $9 million funding round led by ALIVE Ventures in and Desert Bloom… Sahel Capital provided Benin-based agricultural produce trading platform MM LEKKER with a $400,000 loan to help smallholder farmers reduce post-harvest losses.
Carbon capture. California-based direct air capture company Capture6 landed $27.5 million Tetrad Corporation, Hyundai Motor Group’s ZER01NE Ventures, Energy Capital Ventures and others… New Mexico-based Spiritus, which is developing a modular, low-cost direct-air carbon capture system, raised $30 million in Series A funding from Aramco, Khosla, TDK Ventures and others.
Energy transition. Gaia Impact, Schneider Electric Energy Access Asia, Wavemaker Impact and the Global Innovation Fund invested $4.25 million in a Series A round for Singapore’s Agros, which offers solar-powered irrigation systems… National Grid Partners, the venture arm of UK’s utility company National Grid, backed Texas-based Amperon, a provider of AI-based energy forecasting and analytics… PHNXX, a Singapore and Melbourne, Australia-based maker of container-based microgrid systems for rural and remote businesses, raised 1.5 million Singaporean dollars ($1.1 million) from ENGIE Factory, Synertec and others.
Fund news. Aligned Climate Capital raised $85 million to scale clean energy ventures… Equator VC nabbed $55 million to de-risk climate tech startups in Africa.
Green infrastructure. Daupler snagged $15 million to streamline emergency response for water and electric utilities… Quinbrook plans $2.2 billion investment in long-duration battery storage in Australia… South Africa’s First National Bank invested in Everlectric, which sells and leases electric vehicles and charging equipment… Swiss global investor Partners Group will invest up to $756 million to build up Australia’s GreenSquareDC as a large-scale developer and operator of sustainable data centers, following its acquisition of the company.
Innovative finance. African bond fund and IFC anchored gender bond in Côte d’Ivoire… Ares Management formed sustainable investing partnership with Indonesia Investment Authority.
LP/GP. Toronto-based Manulife Investment Management will integrate shared ownership into its investment approach now that it has joined Ownership Works, a private equity coalition aiming to create $20 billion in wealth for workers through employee ownership… Beams Fintech Fund, BNP Paribas and Japan’s Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group backed a $70 million round for InsuranceDheko, which is working to expand insurance access in India.
Waste to value. Dallas-based Watter scored $5 million in seed financing, led by Hunt Innovative Technologies and 17Shoals, to use waste heat from computing devices to heat water in residential homes and commercial buildings… Nuveen’s private equity impact group backed CleanPlanet Chemical to recycle chemical waste… Seattle-based textile recycler Ravel scored seed capital from At One Ventures, Collateral Good, Collaborative Fund to produce polyester-derived plastic for the fashion industry.
