Agrifood investing. Ocean 14 Capital led a $6 million round for AquaExchange, an Indian startup that provides technology and financing services to shrimp farmers in the country.

AI economy. GitLab Foundation approved grants to 16 organizations supporting the inclusive use of AI in the workforce, including Accion, the Community Economic Defense Project and SkillUp Coalition. GitLab’s AI for Economic Opportunity Fund works in partnership with OpenAI, the Annie E. Casey Foundation and Ballmer Group… Unicorn India Ventures led a $3 million seed round for Verdant Impact, which provides AI-assisted crop and livestock management… Zeal Capital Partners, Prudence and Atlanta Seed Co. backed a $13 million Series A equity round for City Detect, an Alabama startup that helps local governments identify and manage illegal dumping, storm damage and overgrown lots, via AI and cameras.

Energy transition. Brookfield Renewable Partners secured a sustainability-linked credit facility from BNP Paribas. Brookfield’s cost of debt drops as it adds renewable power and meets pre-determined CO2 emissions avoidance levels… France-based RGreen Invest and Austria-based Renalfa Solarpro are investing €200 million in Renalfa Power Clusters, a new joint venture for renewable energy projects in Romania and Poland… San Francisco-based Vor Systems snagged $3 million, led by Gigascale Capital, to build a transaction platform for complex renewable energy deals… Sunwealth secured a $15.8 million line of credit from North Easton Savings Bank to build distributed solar projects for commercial and community organizations in Massachusetts’ low-income neighborhoods… West Palm Beach-based infrastructure investor Siris acquired a majority stake in renewable energy services provider Takkion from Apollo Global.

Fund news. Galvanize raised $370 million to drive real estate value through decarbonization… Persistent snagged $52 million to invest in Africa’s climate entrepreneurs.

Green batteries. Congruent Ventures led a $25 million equity investment in Zeno, an East African maker of e-bikes and battery-swapping infrastructure… Swedish battery tech maker Holyvolt acquired Wildcat Discovery Technologies, a US-based “materials discovery” company to accelerate sustainable, next-gen batteries.

Good jobs. Impact-first LPs powered Apis & Heritage employee ownership fund past $250 million target… LaFamilia Foundation and Insight Partners backed Pasito’s $21 million Series A round. The New York-based company uses AI to automate insurance and benefits administration, helping expand access to workplace benefits.

Impact tech. Coral raised $7.5 million to streamline rebates for US homeowners… Gangkhar raised $4.3 million for embedded insurance in Latin America… Rasa Legal raised $5 million to help people clear criminal records and access jobs… Rozana raised $31.4 million to provide rural delivery services in India.

Inclusive finance. Impact-linked lender Beneficial Returns made two textiles investments in Peru, ImpactAlpha has learned. A loan to Away Pallay from its Reciprocity Fund will support Indigenous Quechua women loomers. Another to Cotton Nation from its larger Main Fund will support small regenerative cotton farmers (see, “Fashion brands step into the aid gap to back regenerative cotton in Peru’s Amazon“)… Proparco loaned €5 million ($5.7 million) to Kosovo-based microfinance AFK to provide credit to women-led and rural businesses.

Institutional impact. Netherlands-based Rabobank launched the Rabo Impact Foundation with €102 million ($118 million) to invest in food systems, energy, healthcare, water, circularity and affordable housing.

Investing in water. Ecuador-based Impaqto Capital invested in Colombia-based water treatment company Zhana Solutions to support its expansion into Mexico… Zurich-based Emerald Technology Ventures raised €100 million ($116 million) from Temasek, Grundfos Foundation, SKion Water, Ecolab and others for its second global water fund.
