This finale to the first season of The Activest Podcast sets up Juneteenth 2025, marking 160 years since US troops arrived in Texas to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation. It also marks 160 years since the beginning of the Reconstruction era, the period of political and economic rebuilding that followed the defeat of the Confederacy, the end of slavery and the establishment of citizenship and political rights for Black Americans.
