Education. Boston-based nonprofit Britebound acquired Chile-based edtech startup Lab4U to improve Latin American and US-based students’ access to science, technology, engineering and math lessons online.
Energy transition. Alterra co-invested with I Squared Capital in Lima-based Inkia Energy to expand its renewable energy generation capacity… Laser-based fusion company Focused Energy raised a $240 million Series A round backed by Lowercarbon Capital, RWE, Germany’s innovation agency, the European Innovation Council Fund, Prime Movers Lab and other investors… India-based Inox Clean Energy received from the family office of Adar Poonawalla to ramp up renewables development… Paris-based RGreen Invest secured €500 million ($572 million) for its fourth Infrabridge infrastructure debt fund, which invests in Europe’s energy transition… Denmark-based Climentum Capital raised €60 million toward a €100 million ($114 million) goal for its second fund to back hardware companies in industrial decarbonization, clean energy and manufacturing, and other climate solutions… Tennessee-based Standard Nuclear, a fuel producer for small-scale nuclear reactors, announced plans to list on the New York Stock Exchange. The year-old company has raised more than $180 million from Decisive Point, Andreessen Horowitz, Chevron Technology Ventures, and others.
Financial inclusion. Indian digital lender Fibe filed to go public with a goal of raising 7.5 billion rupees ($79 million) through a primary share sale. Backers TPG Rise, Norwest and Eight Roads will also sell a portion of their shares in the company… Aviva, a Mexican fintech company that provides small loans via AI- and video-enabled kiosks, raised $18 million from Valor Capital Group, IDB Lab, Caravela Capital and Alive Ventures.
Indigenous finance. Keewaywin Capital, an Indigenous-led private credit manager in Toronto, and Vancity Community Investment Bank provided an undisclosed amount of financing to help BRISC to acquire permanent housing to offer community services.
Institutional finance. Kuramo Capital Management reached the first close of the Kuramo Africa Opportunity Fund IV at 48 billion naira ( $35 million). The firm closed on several of its mandates amounting to $500 million from African Pension Funds and African development finance institutions.
Restoration. The Restoration Seed Capital Facility committed to backing Fronterra, which develops carbon and biodiversity projects in Peru.
Valuing aging. Mexico-based Ana Care raised seed funding to formalize homecare for seniors in Latin America… Age Care Labs secured 850 million rupees ($9 million) in a round led by Shrem Group to support healthy aging for India’s seniors
