ImpactAlpha, May 16 – Earth Food, a Pune, India-based startup, grows produce on more than 300 acres, and will expand into a 40 acre plot owned by its investor, The Economic Times reports. It uses no chemical fertilizers, pesticides, preservatives or synthetic enhancers in its operations and sells its goods via relationships with 25 local retailers and online.

  • Local investor… Rairah Corp., which has interests in the food, real estate and finance sectors, invested just shy of $1 million for a 30% stake in the two-year-old company.
  • Growth capital… Earth Food will use the money to expand its product range to include dairy and dried spices and increase total output to about 60 metric tons per month.
