About this Role

The Impact Investing mandate at Liberty Mutual Investments is designed to generate substantial social impact, focusing on three primary areas: boosting social mobility, expanding access to essential services, and enhancing resilience, revitalization, and adaptation. With a commitment of $1 billion in balance sheet capital, the role seeks not only commercial returns but also significant social impact. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in private investments, identifying top-tier partners and leveraging Liberty Mutual’s unique advantages in longer-term investment horizons, complex projects, and direct investment capabilities. This role requires managing the balance between achieving commercial success and maximizing social returns, supported by a collaborative and entrepreneurial work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support comprehensive diligence and develop recommendations on co-investment opportunities, including company analysis and sector evaluation.
  • Conduct comprehensive diligence and provide recommendations on fund investment opportunities, evaluating past performance and conducting reference checks.
  • Screen new opportunities effectively, communicating key investment highlights and associated risks succinctly.
  • Assist with impact evaluation and measurement, integrating impact diligence with financial diligence.
  • Manage and monitor current portfolio investments and prepare portfolio progress reports.
  • Assist with the overall management of the portfolio.

Requirements

  • Strong academic record from a competitive institution.
  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity, etc.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills with a focus on identifying key investment considerations and risks.
  • Good interpersonal and team skills, comfortable with consensus decision-making.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with investment professionals and executives.
  • Strong presentation capabilities to articulate investment recommendations concisely.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet time-sensitive deliverables with high quality and accuracy.
  • Passion for and deeper understanding of investing and the private equity industry.
