About this Role
The Investment Manager at Acumen will play a critical role in identifying and evaluating investment opportunities within the social impact space. The successful candidate will conduct comprehensive due diligence on high-potential opportunities and structure deal terms to align with Acumen’s mission. In addition to managing existing portfolios, this role involves driving and delivering exits from investments that have achieved their objectives. The manager will also contribute to the evolving pipeline and offer insights into the innovations landscape, working closely with the sector lead for agriculture. The position requires a deep commitment to Acumen’s principles of moral investing and a passion for creating sustainable, impactful solutions for underserved communities.
Responsibilities
- Identify, cultivate, and review a pipeline of new investment opportunities in the climate sector.
- Conduct due diligence and investment analysis, including financial modeling and valuation reviews.
- Prepare and present investment documentation for Acumen India’s Investment Committee.
- Lead the closing of transactions, including negotiations of investment conditions.
- Assess portfolio company needs related to post-investment support.
- Build a network of potential impact funders/investors.
- Support and lead the scheduled exit roadmap for a few portfolio companies.
- Represent Acumen on the board of portfolio companies.
- Support select companies on governance, finance, asset management, and leadership.
- Lead the insights generation work on existing portfolios for future reference.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of overall work experience, with 4-5 years in investment sectors.
- Proven experience with financial and operational due diligence of early-stage businesses.
- Superior financial, modeling, and business analysis skills.
- Familiarity with the social enterprise and impact investing sectors.
- Solid operational skills including problem-solving and project management skills.
- Authorization to work in India on a permanent basis.
