About this Role

The Senior Financial Analyst at Conservation International plays a pivotal role in the Nature Finance Group (NFG), specifically within the Structured Finance, Analysis and Risk (SFAR) team. This role is designed to support and enhance the financial capabilities necessary to address global climate and biodiversity crises through innovative investment strategies. The position encompasses a diverse range of financial activities, focusing on the creation, analysis, and improvement of financial models to aid Conservation International’s investment opportunities. The Senior Financial Analyst collaborates with a global team, offering expertise in financial modeling and analysis, assisting in the development of tools and models to advance nature finance initiatives worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Modeling of pooled asset vehicles such as complex blended finance fund structures and outcome bonds in Excel.
  • Prepare and/or review financial models for in-house and external developer carbon projects.
  • Support preparation and/or review of financial models for early-stage business investments, including complex structures like convertible debt.
  • Review of financial models prepared by external parties for debt restructuring, e.g., refinancing sovereign debt for nature.
  • Regular monitoring of GEF/GCF NGI investments and supporting financial due diligence of new investments.
  • Conduct financial performance analysis of in-house financial vehicles.
  • Develop modeling templates and standardize financial tools to support the analysis of various investment programs within the Nature Finance Group.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5 to 7 years of experience in an investment banking-type environment with exposure to multiple asset classes.
  • Strong skills in Excel, financial modeling, and financial analysis.
  • A test of financial modeling skills is required.
  • Ability to break down complex topics into simple language.
  • Flexibility in a fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Existing authorization to work in the applicable country (visa applications will not be sponsored).
