About this Role
The ADTx Africa Regional Partner role is a pinnacle position within Accion Digital Transformation (ADTx), demanding significant expertise in private equity, particularly in navigating emerging markets. This role underscores the potential of technology in developing digital financial services, focusing on small and micro-enterprises, farmers, and low-income households. By collaborating with various internal and external partners, the Africa Regional Partner will contribute to developing and implementing digitization strategies within Africa’s financial market, ensuring alignment with shareholder and management objectives. The successful hire will effectively navigate the investment cycle from sourcing to execution and exit strategies within the African portfolio. Seamlessly interacting with multiple stakeholders and representing the core objectives of ADTx, the Africa Regional Partner will also provide strategic support and liaise with ADTx’s diverse network across the continent and globally.
Responsibilities
- Identify equity investment targets consistent with ADTx’s impact mission and digitalization theme.
- Create and oversee detailed financial models, projections, and valuations to analyze equity investment and divestment opportunities.
- Present deal analysis and investment recommendations to the Investment Committee.
- Lead deal negotiations and execution, ensuring compliance with ESG policies.
- Manage the equity portfolio and develop commercial exit strategies for portfolio companies.
- Develop a digitization strategy with the digital transformation team for potential target companies.
- Provide strategic support for portfolio companies, such as developing alliances and raising new debt and equity.
- Represent ADTx on portfolio company boards as appropriate.
- Build co-investment consortia and develop strong relationships with co-investors.
- Provide support to the Operations and Finance teams on portfolio company valuation and reporting.
- Support investor relations and due diligence with potential investors.
- Represent AIM locally in the Africa market and globally, participating in professional development and knowledge sharing activities.
Requirements
- 15+ years of progressive investment experience in private equity, particularly in financial institutions and fintech.
- Deep sector expertise in financial services and fintech, with a focus on African markets.
- Proven ability to define and execute regional investment strategies.
- Experience partnering with financial institutions on digital strategies for financial inclusion.
- Demonstrated influence in board and senior management decision-making.
- Advanced analytical and investment judgment with extensive due diligence experience.
- Strong networking skills to mobilize peers, stakeholders, and decision makers.
- Leadership capability in mentoring and developing investment professionals.
- High degree of autonomy and effective collaboration within a global organization.
