About this Role

The Agribusiness Finance Officer will be an essential team member in the FAO Investment Centre, specifically in the Latin America and the Caribbean Service. The officer will provide expertise in supporting both public and private investment operations related to agribusiness finance. Working from the FAO Subregional Office for Mesoamerica in Panama City, Panama, the officer will collaborate closely with relevant stakeholders and contribute to the expansion and implementation of agribusiness investment strategies across various countries. The officer will have the key responsibility of delivering investment and finance support solutions, emphasizing agribusiness value chain development, agrifood trade, markets, and risk management. In close partnership with countries’ governments and private sectors, the officer will help strengthen the mechanisms that unlock financing and integrate innovative finance solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and lead multidisciplinary teams to assist with investment and finance support initiatives.
  • Provide expertise in preparing food and agriculture studies and strategies.
  • Support sustainable food systems involving various stakeholders.
  • Formulate and deliver capacity development initiatives.
  • Prepare necessary documents and ensure quality outputs.
  • Promote international cooperation and collaborative investment opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships within FAO.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in relevant fields such as finance, agribusiness, or agricultural economics.
  • Seven years of relevant experience in agribusiness finance and investment.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of another FAO official language is an asset.
  • Experience in participating in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to write technical reports and engage with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Latin America and the Caribbean context is advantageous.
