Three days and 5,500 miles apart, the ImpactAlpha team is all over both this week’s GIIN Impact Forum in Amsterdam and next week’s SOCAP24 in San Francisco. If you, too, are doing the double, drop a note in the community Slack channel to let us know.
This year’s SOCAP agenda features ImpactAlpha’s team on a half-dozen panels; we’ll be convening discussions on diversity, ownership, climate and artificial intelligence, and more. To help you plan your schedule, here’s a guide to “the ImpactAlpha track” at SOCAP24.
Opening sessions
On Monday, David Bank will host the opening panel of the “DEI, Ownership & Impact” track, featuring Pro Mujer’s Carmen Correa, World Education Services’ Smitha Das, The Equity Alliance’s Adam Kiki-Charles and Illumen Capital’s Joanna Kuang.
ImpactAlpha’s Amy Cortese will open up the climate track with a conversation titled, “Deploying Climate Capital,” with At One Ventures’ Tom Chi, Nature Tech Collective’s Gilad Goren and SVX Mexico’s Laura Ortiz Montemayor.
To kick off the “AI = Accelerating Impact” track, ImpactAlpha’s Dennis Price will speak with TechBetter’s Ravit Dotan, UC Berkeley’s David Evan Harris and AI for The People’s Mutale Nkonde.
Premiere and reception
On Tuesday, join us at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts screening room for the premiere of ImpactAlpha’s documentary, Equity and Ownership: Napoleon Wallace and the Reconstruction of Black Wealth (watch the trailer, and read the backgrounder).
The post-film discussion will include Wallace, by video, along with Activest’s Micah Gilmer and Partners in Equity’s Talib Graves-Manns.
If “Systemic Investment Into Urban Nature and Biodiversity” is more your thing, catch Amy’s panel with Woodcock Foundation’s Jeremy Guth, Coralus’ Anastasia Mourogova Millin and Yale’s Dr. Martin Wainstein.

Wednesday finale
David will discuss “The Role of Catalytic Capital in Fostering Systemic Impact” with Ceniarth’s Greg Neichin, Builders Vision’s James Lindsay, MacArthur Foundation’s Urmi Sengupta and Blue Haven’s Daniel Wanjira.
Dennis’ panel, “Investing for Systems Change,” will offer perspectives on shared ownership from Melissa Hoover of Rutgers Institute for the Study of Employee Ownership, Amelia Ahl of Hypha Collective and Julian McKinley of Democracy at Work Institute.
In the closing plenary, David will help wrap up the conference with a chat with Lever for Change’s Cecilia Conrad.
