Surdna Foundation is a U.S.-based private foundation founded in 1917 by John Emory Andrus dedicated to fostering just and sustainable communities across three key program areas: inclusive economies, sustainable environments, and thriving cultures. The Foundation prioritizes support for low-wealth communities and communities of color to exercise ownership, control, and stewardship over economic, environmental and cultural systems. It applies a system level approach by combining grant-making with impact investing and using a long-term horizon for change. It is governed by descendants of its founder with a historic focus on innovation, justice and service.
