About the fund

AgVentures Agriculture Tech Fund III, domiciled in Brazil, is SP Ventures' third venture capital fund targeting early-stage and growth-stage investments across Latin America and the Caribbean. The fund invests in agricultural technology startups developing biological alternatives to chemical inputs, digital supply chain solutions, and financial services for smallholder farmers. With a target capitalization of $100 million and $50 million raised to date, the fund articulates impact objectives including sustainable land management across 50 million hectares, improved livelihoods for 500,000 rural workers, and replacement of one million tons of chemical fertilizers and pesticides with organic alternatives. The fund's investor base comprises development finance institutions, including IDB Lab and the Soros Economic Development Fund, alongside strategic agricultural and materials corporations such as AGCO, FMC, BASF Venture Capital, and Minerva Foods, reflecting a blend of impact and commercial agricultural sector expertise.
