About the fund

Harbor Fund is a nonprofit venture capital-shaped film fund that was established in 2024 as a 501(c)(3). Its mission is to unlock new capital for independent cinema by engaging with industry professionals to support film productions with charitable purposes. It invests in the equity or debt financing of films, with any proceeds returned to a self-sustaining, evergreen fund that is then reinvested into new social impact films in perpetuity. The fund was founded on the belief that there are many philanthropic-minded patrons — particularly those with family foundations and donor-advised funds — who want to commission films that speak to human values and make a meaningful social impact, filling a gap in an industry where a small number of executives control most funding decisions.
