About the fund

The Fama Gaia Socio-Bioeconomy Fund is an impact-debt vehicle managed by São Paulo-based Fama re.capital, designed to finance regenerative land-use and sustainable enterprise development across Brazil’s diverse ecosystems. The fund provides affordable, accessible credit to smallholder farmers, cooperatives and community-based businesses traditionally underserved by mainstream finance. Loans typically start at around R$200,000 (≈ US $40,000) and are priced at 12–16 % annual interest—roughly a 3.5 % spread above the Selic rate—enabling borrowers to transition to regenerative agricultural practices and strengthen local bioeconomies. Operating across all six of Brazil’s macro-biomes — Amazonia, Atlantic Forest, Caatinga, Cerrado, Pantanal and Pampa — as well as coastal and mangrove ecosystems, the fund’s approach recognises the ecological interdependence of these regions. By integrating localized credit assessments with environmental and social impact metrics, the fund advances long-term ecosystem restoration, livelihood resilience and income generation for rural communities.
