About this Role

The role of Investment Associate in Financial Inclusion Debt at responsAbility involves working with investment funds targeting financial institutions in Sub-Saharan Africa. The objective is to extend senior and subordinated debt to microfinance institutions to foster growth in the region. The candidate will be engaged in the entire investment cycle — from sourcing to monitoring — facilitated by collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders. This position necessitates frequent travel and interaction with local markets to ensure effective investment strategies and risk management. The candidate will contribute significantly to the depth and breadth of responsAbility’s impact investments within a multi-cultural and innovative business environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and grow responsAbility’s financial sector debt investments in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Conduct credit risk analysis of counterparties and market risks both on-site and off-site.
  • Interact with risk management, investment committee, transaction teams, and external parties for transaction structuring.
  • Oversee the full investment cycle, from sourcing to portfolio management and monitoring.
  • Represent the company at key conferences, seminars, and events.
  • Travel frequently within the region to engage with local stakeholders and markets.

Requirements

  • Degree in economics, business administration, finance, or related field.
  • At least 3-4 years of experience in the financial sector within an international setting.
  • Strong knowledge of microfinance, SME finance, and leasing business.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills with a keen interest in business development.
  • Proficiency in English and enthusiasm for impact investments.
  • Flexible and self-reliant personality capable of thriving in an international environment.
