ImpactAlpha, August 28 – EcoVerde Organics, based in East Aurora, NY, is among the growing number of startups repurposing waste for productive use. The company collects food scraps and animal waste and converts it to compost, which it will sell under the Full Circle Compost brand.

EcoVerde went into business last year and has collected 500 cubic yards of waste, The Buffalo News reports. It is planning to launch its compost on the market, starting with about 4,000 bags in the coming months.

WNY Impact Investment Fund is backing the company with a $450,000 investment. The fund backs social enterprises in the Western New York area. It launched last year with $8 million to invest. In addition to EcoVerde it has also backed Green Machine Equipment, which makes battery powered industrial equipment.
