“Trash unicorn” Rubicon attracts $65 million from New Zealand Super Fund

ImpactAlpha, May 14 – Atlanta-based Rubicon connects trash collectors to cities and businesses looking for garbage and recycling services. Its app helps businesses and municipalities track diverted waste and sustainability progress. Rubicon has raised more than $200 million and is valued at more than $1 billion. The New Zealand Super Fund is the country’s $38 billion sovereign wealth fund.

  • Rubicon’s raise… The $65 million investment is part of Rubicon’s planned $140 raise, Recode reports. Leonardo DiCaprio, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, KKR co-founder Henry Kravis, Uber co-founder Oscar Salazar, Goldman Sachs, Promecap, and billionaire Paul Tudor Jones also are investors.
