Berlin-based renewable energy management platform Cloover raised $22 million in equity and $1.2 billion in debt… Sumitomo’s SMBC Asia Rising Fund and others invested $15 million in Indian solar financing platform Aerem… Lendable raised $300 million to lend to impact and energy transition-focused fintechs in emerging markets… Novastar Ventures, the Energy Entrepreneurs Growth Fund and other investors backed Nigeria-based MAX, an EV provider and financing company… CrossBoundary Group acquired four mini-grids developed by Madagascar-based renewable energy group ANKA.
Fund news. Allianz Global Investors has raised a total of $690 million for its first close for its emerging markets credit fund… responsAbility raised $460 million for its Asia-focused climate fund… Amethis Investment Fund Manager closed its third fund at €406 million to invest in local African businesses… Boston Impact Initiative raised over $20 million to invest in small businesses and nonprofits in New England… Munich-based Ananda Impact Ventures reached a first close of its fifth fund with support from more than 40 European family offices.
Impact tech. Amparo Prosthetics secured a $600,000 investment from Save the Children Global Ventures… The Private Infrastructure Development Group invested in Kenya-based Sanivation, which converts human waste into fuel “briquettes” that can be used instead of charcoal.
