About this Role

The Senior Investment Officer position in Climate Finance for Latin America at responsAbility Investments involves a significant role in expanding the company’s climate finance portfolio. The role requires originating and structuring debt transactions in climate infrastructure investments. The candidate will contribute to the development of investment strategies for Latin America, necessitating strong technical, business development, and leadership skills, along with an extensive network in the region. The position is designed for a professional capable of executing deals from origination to completion, including due diligence, financial modeling, credit appraisal, and legal documentation. The selected candidate will play a crucial part in fundraising efforts and represent responsAbility at key events across Latin America. Collaboration with regional teams in different locations is an essential aspect of the role, ensuring the successful implementation of the investment strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Actively contribute to the growth of the Climate Finance portfolio by building a strong pipeline of investment opportunities in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and electric mobility in LATAM.
  • Execute end-to-end deals from origination to due diligence, financial modeling, credit appraisal, and legal documentation.
  • Structure and negotiate transactions using different debt instruments, aligning with the risk/return expectations of responsAbility-managed funds.
  • Draft and present investment proposals to relevant investment decision bodies.
  • Lead and contribute to the development and implementation of the investment strategy for LATAM, collaborating with team members and partners.
  • Participate in fundraising for future climate fund initiatives with the Relationship Management Team.
  • Represent the company at regional conferences, seminars, and relevant events.
  • Liaise with teams in Zurich, Nairobi, Tbilisi, and Mumbai.

Requirements

  • Postgraduate degree in economics, business administration, finance, or a related field from a top institution.
  • 8+ years of investment experience in the energy/climate finance sector.
  • Experience in fund structuring and management; fundraising experience is a plus.
  • Proven deal experience in small-scale renewable energy, distributed energy, and/or energy efficiency sectors, demonstrated through structured debt or equity deal references.
  • Strong network among climate technology-focused companies across Latin America.
  • Proven business development and relationship management skills with a strong existing network.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently across the region.
  • Proficient analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent English and Spanish language skills; knowledge of Portuguese is an advantage.
  • Passionate about climate finance and impact investments; adaptable to different cultures.
