We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Director, Head of Climate & Sustainability Integration to join the BNY Sustainability team. This position offers the opportunity to create impactful change within the industry and help shape our sustainability strategies. As a Senior Director, you will play a pivotal role in advising on regulatory objectives for upcoming requirements, leading change within a matrixed organization, and advancing BNY’s sustainability strategy with a focus on transition frameworks. You will serve as a trusted advisor for the Chief Sustainability Officer and provide leadership to the Global Climate Strategy team. In this role, you will communicate our climate strategy effectively, determining consistent approaches on emerging climate disclosure rules.
Responsibilities
- Provide a detailed understanding of financed emissions measurement and transition plan strategy development.
- Drive change in a matrixed environment through influence and adapt planning to meet regulatory objectives.
- Design and advance integration of BNY’s sustainability strategy.
- Establish accountability and execute projects with multiple contributors.
- Serve as a change agent and trusted advisor for senior stakeholders.
- Oversee work by the Global Climate Strategy team and support sustainability outcomes.
- Serve as a proactive expert on climate finance themes to inform sustainability value.
- Support commercial engagement with account leads and clients.
- Determine consistent approaches on climate disclosure rules.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
- MBA or relevant graduate degree focusing on social responsibility preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in sustainability within financial services or related management consulting.
- Strong knowledge of global sustainable finance policy and regulations on financial institutions.
- Demonstrated success in navigating ambiguity and managing teams.
- Ability to work horizontally and lead peers through influence.
- Intellectual curiosity and a global enterprise mindset.
- Effective communicator who can present technical information with simplicity.
