About this Role

The research fellow role is designed for an individual motivated to investigate the responsible and ethical considerations of AI within the venture capital ecosystem. As AI continues to influence significant sectors worldwide, this project aims to assess the potential impacts and opportunities of AI investments. VentureESG and ImpactVC are working to ensure a responsible approach to AI, producing practical tools and guidance for VCs. This role involves conducting comprehensive desk and field research to compile case studies and frameworks that focus on responsible AI investments, generating resources that facilitate impactful change.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct desk and interview-based research, including a literature review of existing research, frameworks, reports, and tools related to AI opportunities and risks.
  • Design and execute a VC investor survey to gauge perceptions of AI’s investment risks and opportunities.
  • Engage in expert interviews and convenings, gathering diverse perspectives from industry experts.
  • Develop case studies analyzing real-world AI implementations.
  • Co-develop a practical tool/actionable guide for VCs and founders.
  • Draft a contextualizing white paper (3-5 pages) to accompany the launch of the tool/guidance.
  • Develop presentations and moderate the launch of the whitepaper and tool.

Requirements

  • Experience in the VC/startup/tech ecosystem and responsible AI/AI ethics.
  • Proven interest in AI, demonstrated through research, experience, or academic background.
  • Qualitative research experience, ideally with investors or expert communities.
  • Strong English-language communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Autonomy and initiative in engaging with the community and stakeholders.
  • Right to work in the UK.
