About this Role

Catalytic is looking for a Project Pipeline Manager to oversee the operations within its new technical assistance programme, the Central Africa Forest Initiative (CAFI). The candidate will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and other team members to manage project sourcing, evaluation, and selection related activities. The role involves working with stakeholders, including investors and other development partners, to build and sustain a pipeline of projects meeting the objectives of CAFI. The manager will lead in pre-feasibility assessments and post-Technical Assistance evaluations to ensure projects are ready for investment consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Map key stakeholders in the region for the mandate, including financing partners and political partners.
  • Map out risks and opportunities for the mandate.
  • Source quality projects that fit into the scope of CAFI.
  • Conduct pre-feasibility assessments of projects, selecting priority projects for Technical Assistance.
  • Oversee commissioned pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.
  • Evaluate projects post Technical Assistance for impacts and investment readiness.
  • Collaborate closely with the investment manager on project evaluation and selection for Technical Assistance and/or investment assessment.
  • Continuously improve the Technical Assistance pipeline processes.
  • Provide metrics and outcomes for communication, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar function with investment funds, international organisations, or NGOs.
  • Knowledge and experience in projects aimed at deforestation.
  • Experience working in or with Central African region.
  • Understanding of business development and financial models for SMEs or infrastructure projects.
  • Deal sourcing experience and network in the region are strong assets.
  • Experience with impact, blended-finance investment for climate targets is a plus.
  • Familiarity with international standards like IFC Performance Standards, Gold Standard, and IRIS+.
  • Strong judgment with handling large volumes of projects.
  • Passion for climate mitigation and sustainable development.
  • Proficiency in English and French.
  • Excellent writing, drafting, and editing skills.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, finance, economics, or international relations.
