About this Role

Bloomberg Philanthropies is seeking a dynamic and experienced Program Manager to join its Greenwood Initiative team. The successful candidate will manage key aspects of a portfolio designed to promote economic equity and strengthen Black communities. This role involves overseeing investments and partnerships, while providing strategic guidance for program expansion and scale. The Program Manager will act as a thought partner to grantees and collaborators, and play a vital role in advising, developing new strategies, assessing performance, and promoting learning and continuous improvement. The role is based in New York City, and will require periodic travel within the United States to partner meetings, site visits, and conferences. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a groundbreaking initiative with real social impact, through close collaboration with a dedicated and mission-driven team.

Responsibilities

  • Co-create strategy for the economic equity program initiatives with the Greenwood Initiative team lead, program managers, and external consultants.
  • Field inquiries regarding funding and program priorities.
  • Lead the development of proposals with right-sized scopes, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Work closely with the grants management team to plan, implement, and manage grants and partner contracts.
  • Liaise with grantees, partners, and internal stakeholders to address grant and budget issues.
  • Elevate grant and contract issues to team leadership with proposed solutions.
  • Manage the creation and tracking of program outcomes and impacts.
  • Prepare materials for internal reporting including monthly program highlights and project timelines.
  • Inform strategic agenda through awareness of the funding landscape and issue knowledge.
  • Conduct research and support the development of strategies for expanding existing initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support by coordinating meetings with partners.

Requirements

  • 8 years minimum of full-time work experience in government, consulting, philanthropy, nonprofits, or social enterprise.
  • Passion for racial wealth equity and community development.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills for building relationships with grantees, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated project management excellence and organizational skills.
  • Team player with a willingness to collaborate and drive team improvement.
  • Creative problem-solver with the ability to influence and inspire others towards objectives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to engage in both critical thinking and administrative tasks.
  • Highest standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
