About this Role
The Managing Director of the Olamina Fund holds the crucial responsibility of overseeing the fund’s mission and financial success. This role demands strategic growth, stakeholder engagement, and astute business operations management. Tasked with increasing the fund size to $60M over two years, the Director will build relationships with mission-aligned investors and collaborate closely with the Community Advisory Board. As the public face of the Olamina Fund at conferences and other events, the Director will champion innovative investment models and equitable governance. A leader in fund management, this role also demands the supervision of investment and underwriting processes, ensuring community-centered financial practices.
Responsibilities
- Finalize and manage Olamina’s fundraising campaign from investor cultivation to solicitation.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with existing and prospective investors.
- Solicit grants, recoverable grants, PRI investments, and other debt capital, ensuring alignment with fund goals.
- Represent Olamina in national dialogues through workgroups and movement circles, serving as a thought leader and advocate.
- Support the advancement of innovative models through knowledge sharing.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with Community Advisory Board members.
- Facilitate quarterly CAB meetings and recruit new members.
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of presentations for existing and prospective investors.
- Supervise the process of moving investment opportunities into the portfolio.
- Provide oversight of the investment origination and underwriting processes.
Requirements
- Active in social and/or economic movement spaces.
- Experience in fund management is preferred.
- Experience with general business operations including budgeting, financial management, and strategic planning.
- Experience cultivating and maintaining partnerships with stakeholders, investors, and other community members.
- Experience in fundraising for large organizations with a network of private investors.
- Experience managing early-stage organizations.
- Ability to work independently with high-quality standards.
- Comfort with public speaking and participation in panel discussions.
