About this Role
Builders Vision is in search of an Investment Associate to join its Builders Initiative Investment Team (BIIT), focusing on the Food & Agriculture sector. The BIIT team manages the Builders Initiative Foundation endowment and Builders Bridge, a vehicle for catalytic impact investments in private funds and ventures. The Investment Associate will support the underwriting and monitoring of investments, engaging with senior staff and partner organizations. The role includes managing the investment pipeline, conducting due diligence, and contributing to ongoing portfolio monitoring. The candidate should be dedicated to achieving excellence, possess strong project management skills, and demonstrate an interest in impact investing, ESG, and food and agriculture.
Responsibilities
- Carry out investment processes and projects under senior colleagues’ direction.
- Support investment pipeline management activities including note-taking, sourcing, and managing pipeline systems.
- Conduct investment due diligence in collaboration with team members.
- Work closely with the Impact Measurement & Management (IMM) team to develop and implement IMM frameworks.
- Produce written and presentation materials to communicate investment and impact analysis to stakeholders.
- Conduct market research and portfolio construction analyses as directed.
- Contribute to ongoing monitoring of the portfolio including financial and impact reporting and meetings with investees.
- Develop mastery of BIIT and BV tools, systems, and processes.
- Collaborate with and support the success of other Associates.
Requirements
- 4-6 years of work experience in an investment-related field such as venture capital, asset management, investment banking, or consulting.
- Experience underwriting investments into early-stage ventures and/or fund managers.
- Demonstrated interest in impact investing, ESG, and food and agriculture.
- Familiarity with all aspects of the investment process ranging from sourcing to screening, underwriting, closing, and post-investment monitoring and support.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent project management skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Comfort in writing full-form documents and investment memoranda.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and team-based environment.
- College/University degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Mastery of business tools such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; comfort with database/CRM tools.
- Note that this is a pre-MBA role.
