About this Role

The Investment Analyst for Latin America and the Caribbean will play a vital role in developing and maintaining business relationships with portfolio companies across these regions. This position, based in Mexico City, involves understanding the debt funding needs of companies, conducting on-site due diligence, analyzing credit, ESG, and country risks, and monitoring both the financial and operational performance of investments. The analyst will also be responsible for developing a pipeline of investable targets within specific financial markets including the MSME and impact investing sectors. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a for-profit company within the social investment sphere, offering a dynamic work environment in a growing industry.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain key partners in portfolio countries, contributing to regional and country strategy.
  • Conduct on-site due diligence of financial institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Write credit risk appraisals, ESG risk appraisals, investment advisory reports, and country risk evaluations.
  • Monitor global situations, opportunities, and risks in financial markets within the portfolio countries.
  • Develop a pipeline of investable targets in financial markets, including banking, MSME, and the impact investing sector.
  • Support the development of new business opportunities in the region.
  • Maintain and monitor a portfolio of companies, including monthly financial reporting.

Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent, preferably in a finance-related field.
  • CFA Charterholder is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with previous experience (minimum 2 years) in credit analysis, financial analysis, or investment management.
  • Professional experience or strong knowledge of Latin America.
  • Good knowledge of the development finance or impact investing industry and a proven interest in impact investing.
  • Proven interest in emerging and frontier markets and sustainable development.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English.
  • Willingness and readiness to travel (up to 30%).
