About this Role
The Global Health Training, Advisory and Support Contract (GHTASC) aims to deliver effective global health programs, supporting USAID’s Bureau for Global Health. The Innovative Finance Advisor role is integral to the organization’s efforts in applying financial innovation to accelerate health impacts in low- and middle-income countries. You will join a dynamic team at PHI working primarily with the USAID Center for Innovation and Impact (CII) to create and execute innovative financing strategies. Your work will involve engaging new funders, developing partnerships, and supporting initiatives that unlock financing for critical health products and services. As an Innovative Finance Advisor, you will leverage your expertise in financial innovation and market dynamics to contribute to impactful projects. You will closely collaborate with internal technical staff and external partners to address market failures and increase access to life-saving health technologies. This role provides an opportunity to apply creative financial solutions to support USAID’s global health objectives and engage with a diverse set of stakeholders across various sectors.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of knowledge products such as toolkits and guides to promote financial innovation for global health.
- Engage with stakeholders within the Global Health Bureau and external partners, providing support to USAID leadership.
- Develop innovative financing mechanisms to attract new funders and accelerate deployment of health interventions.
- Present USAID’s technical viewpoints at relevant external meetings and conferences.
- Engage in market shaping and private sector engagement to support health product uptake.
- Contribute to team-building and supportive culture at CII by troubleshooting and supporting various projects.
- Identify and support opportunities and new initiatives within CII as it evolves.
- Prepare reports, project plans, and briefing documents as needed.
- Work in-person at Washington, DC office at least three days per week.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience, or bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience.
- US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Facility Access clearance.
- Professional experience in financing or innovative financing transaction design and execution.
- Understanding of existing blended and outcomes-based financing models.
- Exceptional analytical and communication skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to think strategically and independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills with capability to communicate effectively across diverse backgrounds.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Availability to work in-office at least three days a week and travel as needed.
